Gwendolyn Tennell

As the SUSLA Team Lead for our consortium, Gwendolyn Tennell brings a wealth of experience in educational technology, IT administration, and cross-functional leadership. Her journey into technology began in 2012, culminating in an Associate Degree in Computer Science with a Web Development Certification from Southern University Shreveport in 2014, where she honed skills in C++ and HTML5. During this time, she served as a student IT worker, gaining hands-on experience in software installation, equipment troubleshooting, and user support.

Gwendolyn further expanded her expertise while pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a concentration in Computer Information Systems from Louisiana State University Shreveport, graduating in 2017. Her studies equipped her with diverse proficiencies in PHP, MySQL, JAVA, PERL, BASH, Networking, Security, Accounting, Marketing, and Finance, enabling her to seamlessly operate across both Windows and Linux platforms.

Her passion for creating impactful learning environments is evident in her extensive research experience at Auburn University, the University of Alabama, and Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. These opportunities significantly enhanced her skills in user-centered design, digital content creation, and complex technical problem-solving.

Since joining Southern University at Shreveport, Gwendolyn has been a pivotal force in the E-Learning department. In her previous role as Assistant Director of E-Learning and Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator, she was instrumental in collaborating with faculty to troubleshoot courses across online, hybrid, and virtual modalities, ensuring seamless delivery of educational content.

Currently, Gwendolyn serves as acting Interim Executive Director of E-Learning in addition to her ongoing responsibilities as LMS Administrator. In this expanded leadership capacity, she oversees and manages the operational functions of the E-Learning Department, driving the successful execution of critical initiatives for the institution. Her blend of technical acumen, dedication to fostering effective learning, and proven leadership make her an invaluable asset to our consortium.
