What is eHBCU?

eHBCU is a digital consortium of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) providing online degrees, certificates, and career-aligned programs. We unite the HBCU legacy with modern access, empowering learners everywhere.

How do I apply to an eHBCU partner institution?

You can apply directly through the eHBCU Unified Application Portal. Choose your preferred program and institution; eHBCU will process and route your application to the appropriate partner school.

Do I need to be a first-year student to apply?

No. We welcome high school graduates, transfer students, adult learners, working professionals, and individuals seeking certification. There’s a path for everyone.

Can I transfer credits from another institution?

Yes. eHBCU supports seamless transfer pathways and offers advising to help evaluate your credit eligibility and graduation timeline.

What happens after I apply?

Once you submit your application, eHBCU will review it based on your chosen program’s criteria and notify you of next steps—typically within 48 hours.

FINANCIAL AID & TUITION

Is financial aid available through eHBCU?

Yes. All degree-seeking students can apply for financial aid through the partner institution’s system. eHBCU provides a Financial Aid Hub to guide you through FAFSA, scholarships, grants, and more.

How much do eHBCU programs cost?

Tuition varies by program and partner institution. We aim to provide transparent, low-cost options with financial planning tools and flexible payment options available.

Do I need test scores (SAT, ACT, etc.)?

Requirements vary by program. Some programs require standardized test scores, while others consider academic and life experience. Certificate and micro-credential programs typically do not require test scores.

Are eHBCU programs accredited?

Yes. All degrees are conferred by fully accredited HBCU partner institutions. Credentials are backed by the institution you select at application.

Can I take just one course or non-degree program?

Absolutely. Students can enroll in single courses or stackable certificates to explore interests or gain skills without committing to a full degree.

Do I get the full HBCU experience online?

How flexible are eHBCU courses?

Courses are designed with busy students in mind. Many are asynchronous (on your schedule), with optional live sessions and support available outside of traditional hours.

Can I work while enrolled?

Yes. eHBCU is designed for working adults, caregivers, and students managing multiple responsibilities. Our programs allow you to learn on your own time, without putting your life on hold.
