Melinda Perry

Melinda Perry is honored to be serving Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) as its newly appointed Executive Online Director of Online Programs. She was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina and is a proud alumna of South Carolina State University and Lesley University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional English and her Master of Education degree with a specialization in Curriculum & Instruction, respectively. 

Prior to working at SUNO, Melinda served as the writing liaison for the Office of the QEP, an instructor and Praxis Coordinator in the School of Education and as the Faculty Liaison, online instructor, and Online Program Coordinator for the Office of eLearning at Southern University and A & M College (SUBR) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  As Faculty Liaison, Melinda was afforded the opportunity to work with all campuses in the Southern University System, serving as the coordinator for the SUS-ACUE Faculty Fellows Program, providing Sophia course training sessions for faculty at SUNO and SUBR, and serving as a grant writer and facilitator for the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) course that was developed by the SU Office of eLearning and selected, approved, and funded as a new initiative project by the Louisiana Board of Regents.  Mrs. Perry co-facilitated the CRT course for all campuses within the System and for colleges and universities throughout the state of Louisiana.  Regarding the CRT course, Melinda is still slated to make national presentations in relation to the course’s success rate.

Melinda is a woman of great faith who believes that every individual is valuable and can maximize his or her potential, that adversity produces growth, the path of least resistance is detrimental, and that one should only be in competition with him or herself, purposing to be a better version than the day before.  Melinda is excited about being a member of the SUNO family and is committed to ensuring that the Department of eLearning, its staff, and its online program offerings are efficient, effective, fully functional, and masterfully successful.
