Clinical Medical Assistant

This program is designed to prepare students to function as professionals in multiple health care settings. Medical assistants with a clinical background perform various clinical tasks including assisting with administration of medications and minor procedures, performing an EKG electrocardiogram, obtaining laboratory specimens for testing, educating patients and other related tasks. Job opportunities are prevalent with physician’s offices, clinics, and hospitals. Instruction includes preparing patients for examination and treatment, including routine laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing, pharmacology, taking and documenting vital signs and technical aspects of phlebotomy. Students will review important topics including HIPPA, patient confidentiality and legal aspects of heath care.
